Overview
Location: UF Heart & Vascular (Whetstone) – 100 Whetstone Place, St. Augustine, FL 32086
The Customer Service Specialist plays a key role in providing excellent service to patients and visitors in a medical office setting. This position involves greeting patients, answering high-volume phone calls, scheduling appointments, processing payments, and ensuring smooth front desk operations. The role also requires knowledge of insurance plans and accurate patient information management.
Responsibilities

Answer high-volume phone calls and respond to patient inquiries using professional customer service skills

Collect complete and accurate patient demographic and financial details

Verify insurance plans, obtain benefit information, and manage referrals/authorizations

Collect and record patient payments at check-in and check-out

Schedule patient appointments using proper techniques to maximize availability

Communicate clearly with physicians and staff regarding patient-related issues

Maintain accurate and updated patient information in the electronic medical records system

Coordinate with other offices/organizations for information exchange
Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: At least 1 year of clerical experience in a healthcare setting
