Description

Come join the Northwest Center team as an AWS Guest Service Representative. In this role you will greet and welcome all visitors in a friendly, warm, professional and courteous manner. Provide a 5-star first impression for every visitor. Direct visitors to the interactive space, answer basic questions about the space as well as encourage visitor engagement in the space and Verify pre-registered guests and assist with visitor check-in.

Location: Crystal City, VA & DMV Area

Schedule: Monday through Friday between 7:30am - 9:00pm, Saturday - 10am - 4pm (Full-Time role, 8 hr shifts within operating hours)

Starting Wage: $25.13 per hour | Full Wage Range: $25.13 - $30.45 per hour

What You Will Do

  • Greet and welcome all visitors in a friendly, warm, professional and courteous manner. Provide a 5-star first impression for every visitor.
  • Talks to the public with or without the use of supplemental material (i.e. notecards, pictures, physical props).
  • Be prepared to direct visitors to the interactive space, answer basic questions about the space as well as encourage visitor engagement in the space.
  • Be ready to share nearby places to eat and other landmarks to visit within the area.
  • Complete opening and closing duties of Skills Center each day.
  • Verify pre-registered guests and assist with visitor check-in.
  • Track appropriate metrics as directed by team leadership.
  • Setup classrooms prior to each class.
  • Prepare and setup Skills Center resources including printed materials, supplies, and swag.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on observations made regarding visitor engagement and other comments related to the visitor experience.
  • Partner with onsite support such as Protective Services, Catering, and AV to resolve ad hoc needs.
  • Assist with special events and projects, as requested.
  • Assist Skills Center Site Lead with catering orders.
  • Arrive in the designated attire and ensure a clean and professional appearance.
  • Immediately report any suspicious persons, calls and packages to security and NWC leadership.
  • Create trouble tickets for facility or brought to your attention.
  • Additional duties as determined by the Skills Center Site Lead.


About You

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree or equivalent credits preferred
  • Minimum 2 years direct customer service experience in a museum, theme park, hospitality, concierge services, or high-profile venues (examples include galleries, art centers, zoos, exhibit centers)
  • Experience managing a shared team Outlook inbox in addition to their own
  • Experience with Amazon Chime, Slack, and WorkDocs
  • Ability to comfortably speak and coordinate large or small audiences.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively interact with the public.
  • Enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and a reliable individual.
  • Proven excellent customer service skills and the ability to multi-task in an ambiguous environment, while always remaining professional and friendly.
  • Willingness to work in a changing environment and ability to quickly prioritize tasks.
  • Learn and retain new program information.
  • Basic technical skills and operational knowledge of an android device.
  • Passion for learning and desire to promote community engagement.
  • Work effectively in both collaborative and independent work styles.
  • Recognize and coordinate accessibility needs for guests on requests.
  • Ability to write concise correspondence and effectively communicate verbally and electronically with all levels of management.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts during operating hours.
  • Must understand, interpret and follow the customer’s policies and procedures.
  • Strong conflict resolution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends based on event needs.
  • Must be able to frequently carry and lift a backpack containing a laptop and other supplies, up to 50 pounds.
  • May need to carry supplies to other buildings.
  • Support adjusting furniture or working with the onsite team to help facilitate furniture needs.
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods (up to 8 hours per workday).
  • The ability to move consistently within a 1.5 radius is required.
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to see both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Ability to identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).
  • This is a dog friendly environment with over 1000 dogs on campus. Individuals with dog allergies or those who do not particularly care for dogs may not be the best fit
