We’re StorageMart – the largest privately-owned, family-operated storage company that helps people make space in their lives, and our digital tools are a big part of how we do that. From a smooth rental experience to the internal systems that support our teams, software plays a critical role—and that’s where you come in.
We also operate Manhattan Mini Storage, a New York icon with a bold voice and big expectations. You'll help support both brands and the technology behind them—building for scale, clarity, and impact.
We’re looking for a web developer who loves solving problems, thinking through architecture, and building real things used by real people.
This position is open to remote/hybrid work with strong preference to those already located in Central time zone, Eastern or Mountain.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with product owners to help define user needs, brainstorm solutions, and shape technical direction.
- Design and build modern, responsive web apps using Elm and other tech we love.
- Prioritize projects with your team, communicate tradeoffs, and help shape realistic timelines.
- Deploy confidently with help from our DevOps friends.Review PRs, mentor when you can, and keep learning alongside teammates.
- Work closely with UX to make sure the pixels match the plan and everything feels just right.
- Help us explore and evaluate new tech, libraries, and tools – especially ones that make functional dev smoother or safer.
You’ll Excel Here If You…
- Have 3–5 years of web development experience, including work on high-traffic websites or e-commerce platforms.
- Are comfortable in Elm or excited to get fluent fast. (We’ll help.)
- Enjoy functional programming and understand its benefits in production systems.
- Can work across the stack – we use Node.js, Express, Postgres, and Mariadb on the backend.
- Write HTML/CSS that works everywhere and gracefully degrades.
- Are familiar with things like Algolia, headless CMSs, A/B testing, and responsive design.Have opinions on API design, component architecture, and how to write code that will still make sense in a year.
- Care about security, performance, and accessibility.
- Are a team player who communicates clearly and loves sharing knowledge.
Bonus Points
- Experience with search, analytics, or call tracking tools.
- You've worked with internationalized applications.
- You're pragmatic about tooling and know when to reach for something lightweight or powerful.
