Job Summary

The Marketing Automation Associate is responsible for scheduling, execution, coordination, quality, and compliance of assigned IEEE managed email marketing outreaches and automated engagement programs. These outreaches may be one-time communications or multi-stage programs, and often include promotions tied to IEEE products and services. This role works within the Experience Design team in the Marketing, Sales, and Design department of IEEE.

The Marketing Automation Associate needs to understand customer goals and drive program experimentation in a data-driven manner to support marketing automation programs and enhance overall member/customer user experiences. This position seeks and identifies strategic and tactical areas of improvement related to the service.

The Marketing Automation Associate is also responsible for applying logic and creativity in strategic initial planning, implementation, monitoring, optimization, analysis and reporting of all activities provided through the service. This position identifies and delivers ad hoc reports and dashboards for analysis to answer key questions regarding member/customer and campaign performance.

The incumbent strives to nurture the relationship with the new customers to drive project growth and maintains existing relationships while seeking opportunities to expand upon existing business. This may include facilitating collaboration, template management, and/or coordinating shared marketing programs among IEEE OUs.

The individual also aids in support of ongoing or new IEEE projects to ensure deadlines are met. In addition, they will provide support for the Display Advertising program; works hand-in-hand with the List Management team to aid in list load, launch, segmentation, and serves as backup to List Management Analysts and Campaign Initiators as necessary.

This is a high contact position, requiring independent judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of IEEE staff and volunteers. This role typically reports to the Senior Manager Campaigns, Marketing Automation and Business Intelligence and functions as an individual contributor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing Automation, Campaign Design/Development/Optimization, Program Coordination, and Customer Care

  • Campaign Operations and Trafficking
  • Performs daily e-mail marketing activities involving set-up, scheduling, testing, and deployment of one-time, recurring, scheduled, or triggered email campaigns
  • Conducts daily seed and mini seed tests to assure brand conformance and quality
  • Manages daily, weekly, and monthly campaign calendars to ensure optimal collaboration among IEEE business unit clients, editorial, and list management teams
  • Assists internal customers (staff) with building email campaigns and database selection, and ensures HTML presentation is representative of the quality standards defined by IEEE
  • Troubleshoots technical issues related to HTML templates, list segmentation, code related concerns, and other aspects of Campaign Operations
  • Develops and tests supported landing pages (includes quality assurance, ensuring leads are captured through proper forms, and maintaining automated journeys)
  • Ensures that assigned campaigns delivered on the behalf of IEEE maintain brand integrity
  • Aids in campaign design and provides content element recommendations to improve response
  • Supports and demonstrates best practices for email marketing execution and management
  • Multitasks in a fast paced, high volume work environment, pivoting priorities and reconfiguring timelines on a daily basis

  • Generates reports or dashboards for analysis of individual and recurring marketing outreaches
  • Analyzes campaign and display ad program reports generated and identifies key data to drive improvement for existing/new marketing strategies
  • Assists in the creation of reporting dashboards, conducts A/B testing and provides test results to various levels of staff to drive highly-targeted segmentation, delivery and content decisions
  • Tracks performance metrics and supports the campaigns team to ensure marketing and business decision-makers get the right insights they need to develop increasingly better-performing campaigns

  • Maintains existing customer relationships and identifies ways to further develop existing programs, and/or introduce new strategies of reaching customers
